ARLINGTON, VA – At the January Arlington County Democratic Committee meeting on Wednesday, Democratic candidate for the Arlington County Board, Matt de Ferranti addressed over one hundred Arlingtonians in his first public remarks.
“Arlington is a great place to live. We are a safe, inclusive and compassionate place that values diversity. But, if we are truly committed to our Democratic ideals, we cannot claim that Arlington is perfect,” de Ferranti said. “I believe now is the time to more closely align our policies with our Democratic ideals of equal opportunity and economic prosperity.”
Vivek Patil, who introduced de Ferranti, told the crowd, “I’ve deeply admired Matt’s passion and commitment for public service as a teacher, as a community activist, as a member of commissions, and as a leader in the non-profit education sector. I’m confident that he’ll bring that experience to bear as a member of the county board, fighting for those that don’t have a voice.”
Earlier in the meeting, the Arlington County Democratic Committee voted in support of a primary as a means to select the party’s nominee ahead of the general election taking place on November 6th.
Matt de Ferranti will have his first campaign event at 7:00pm on January 18th at the home of Mark Teel (4730 23rd Street North, Arlington, VA 22207). The event is open to the public and RSVPs are welcome to Nathan Saxman at nathan@mattforarlington.com or on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/events/150284109083713/.
