ARLINGTON, VA – Matt de Ferranti, candidate for the Democratic nomination for the Arlington County Board, has earned the endorsement of State Senator Adam Ebbin, Delegate Rip Sullivan, Delegate Alfonso Lopez, and School Board Vice-Chair Reid Goldstein.

State Senator Adam Ebbin said, “I’ve known Matt for 5 years and can say without any doubt that he has the judgment, values, and experience to make an excellent Arlington County Board member. I’m proud to endorse him and hope all Arlingtonians will join me in voting for him on June 12th and in November.”

“Matt has an extensive and impressive record of leadership in Arlington and has worked tirelessly to promote progressive values in our community,” said Delegate Rip Sullivan. “I’m proud to endorse him in this race and know that he will make an excellent member of the Arlington County Board.”

Delegate Alfonso Lopez praised Matt de Ferranti’s commitment to affordable housing in Arlington County and standing up for Arlingtonians from all walks of life.

“Through his work on affordable housing, Matt has been dedicated to making the County a better place for all Arlingtonians,” said Delegate Lopez. “I’ve known Matt through his work with the Arlington County Democratic Committee and his longstanding commitment to affordable housing. From housing assistance to making it easier for young people to afford homes in our area to innovative ways of working with the Virginia Affordable Housing Trust Fund, Matt has a nuanced understanding of this issue and its importance to our region. I know that Matt’s commitment to housing and economic opportunity will make him a remarkable addition to the Arlington County Board.”

These are the first endorsements in the 2018 Arlington County Board race from Arlington’s delegation to the General Assembly. In addition, School Board Member Reid Goldstein joined his colleague Tannia Talento in endorsing Matt.

“Matt has been an excellent advocate for students and a leader in his capacity as the chair of the School Budget Advisory Council,” said Mr. Goldstein. “I have enjoyed working with him to find solutions to the challenges APS faces and I know that he will be committed to funding our schools and facilitating coordination between the County Board and School Board when he is elected.”

Responding to the support of these Arlington leaders, Matt stated, “I’m honored to earn the support of Senator Ebbin, Delegate Sullivan, Delegate Lopez, and School Board Vice-Chair Goldstein. Each are remarkable leaders in unique ways. Senator Ebbin’s combination of progressive leadership and bipartisan legislative accomplishments is inspiring. Delegate Sullivan’s leadership on Metro, redistricting reform, and common-sense gun safety fits with my values. Delegate Lopez’s commitment to affordable housing, the environment, and our democratic values is part of what I love about Arlington. Mr. Goldstein’s commitment to better planning between the School Board and the County Board is part of why I am running. I ask Arlingtonians to consider my candidacy for the Arlington County Board.”
