ARLINGTON, VA – On Monday, Chair of the Arlington County Board Katie Cristol, Arlington Commissioner of Revenue Ingrid Morroy, and Sheriff Beth Arthur announced their support for Democrat Matt de Ferranti’s candidacy for the Arlington County Board. These three endorsements add to the list of currently elected officials that have announced their support of de Ferranti ahead of the November 6th general election, including members of Arlington’s delegation to the General Assembly and the Arlington School Board.
In a statement, County Board Chair Katie Cristol said, “Matt is well-versed on the issues that Arlington faces now and will need to address in the coming years. In the time that I’ve known him, Matt has been a committed advocate for Arlington Public Schools, preserving our affordable housing stock, and creating economic opportunities for the most vulnerable. His passion and preparedness for meeting Arlington’s challenges makes him an excellent candidate for the County Board. I’m proud to support his candidacy.”
Commissioner Morroy said, “In my role as commissioner, I’ve sought to improve customer service and ensure fair and transparent tax assessment processes for all Arlingtonians. Matt will be an invaluable partner on the Arlington County Board in advancing these initiatives and making sure that our local government functions as efficiently as possible. I know that he will advocate for responsible tax policy and data driven solutions to Arlington’s most pressing problems. I’m proud to endorse his candidacy for the Arlington County Board.”
“Matt de Ferranti understands the importance of investing in public safety in Arlington County,” Sheriff Beth Arthur said. “He has spent his career advocating for those in need and knows that keeping our community safe is essential to ensuring a community where we all succeed. At the Arlington County Sheriff’s Office, we work with individuals remanded to our custody and we strive to ensure a successful reentry for those returning to our community. Matt understands this and is a compassionate and experienced advocate for all Arlingtonians. He will make an effective member of the Arlington County Board. I am endorsing his candidacy because I know he will be a strong advocate for public safety and our citizens.”
“I am grateful for support of County Chair Katie Cristol, Commissioner Morroy, and Sheriff Arthur,” said Democratic County Board Candidate Matt de Ferranti. “Each is a thoughtful, focused, and outstanding leader. Our next Arlington County Board member must be proactive on our biggest challenges, look for practical solutions, and apply progressive ideas to strengthen and expand opportunity for all. Each of these leaders embody this approach. I am honored to have their endorsements and ask Arlingtonians to join them in support of my campaign for the County Board.”
